The Uptones
NO Johnny-Come-Latelys to the ska scene, the Uptones were part of the same '80s scene in Berkeley that spawned Operation Ivy (which later led to Rancid), and are widely credited as a sort of Missing Link between 2 Tone and the third-wave revival of ska, spawning a slew of bands (Mighty Mighty Bosstones, No Doubt, Real Big Fish, Skankin' Pickle) that hit it big in the '90s. They only lasted for four short years the first time around, but they're back to finish what they started, touring in support of their 2007 release, Skankin' Foolz Unite! Rubyred also performs. |
