Big Bands & BBQ
CAMPBELL sure does love its downtown festivals, and this year the city is adding another one to its list with the first annual Big Bands & BBQ Festival. Papa Hugs and his lyrical masterpieces lead off this family-friendly event with songs that both children and their parents can laugh and dance along with. After that is Edgardo & Candela, a Bay Area salsa band with a refined sound. Headliners Lavay Smith and the Red Hot Skillet Lickers bring back the fun and nostalgia of big swing bands that people from all eras can enjoy. This diva of jazz's sultry voice evokes images of pinup girls and men in zoot suits twirling around the floor of a hidden speak-easy. The event also includes local rockers Redwood, the Careless Hearts, the Hot Rods and Silicon Valley HouseRockers. |
