$. Wash your car and/or grab some fajitas or burritos. The sauces and salsas are great. Go for the seafood-based dishes, such as the burrito Vera Cruzana, or the fish taco. There's a terrific vegetarian burrito. 2560 Marin St. off Chavez at Bayshore (415/824-6684). Lunch, late lunch M-Sa. No alcohol, but great fruit drinks and sodas. (H.H.)

La Taqueria
$. This is the place to go for tacos: They're the best in the city. Tangy salsa verde and a few al fresco seats. You can't miss it--look for the sign. 2889 Mission in the Mission (415/285-7117). (P.A.)

Taqueria Can-Cun
$. This is the place to go for burritos. Three locations (and counting) offer up big ones and bigger ones, terrifically flavorful, as well as a wonderful ceviche and more. 1003 Market (415/864-6773), 2288 Mission (415/252-9560) and 3211 Mission (415/550-1414). (P.A.)
