5 Great Camping Foods

It seemed to go from spring to summer in one day—and summertime means camping trips. Whether you're backpacking or car camping, here are five ideas for tasty campfire fare.

CORN ON THE COB: Not exactly lightweight, but it's worth it. Leave the husks on, throw it in the fire, wait about five minutes, shuck and eat. Don't forget the dental floss.

COUSCOUS: It's lightweight, it's goes well with just about any vegetable or meat and it packs a big carbo punch to help you prepare for a long day of hiking.

OATMEAL: Easy to carry in your backpack. Just add water, sugar and dried fruit. Keep away from the chipmunks.

SAUSAGE: This is more of a car camping item and best eaten on your first night. Be sure to buy pre-cooked sausage to avoid backwoods food poisoning.

S'MORES: Chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows.This one's a given.
