AMY IS A WAITRESS at a small café in Petaluma. On occasion, she housesits for a couple who travel often. Their house is a restored Victorian in town, and a certain non-corporal visitor likes to do odd, artsy things for the entertainment of others.
"It happens a lot, but not always," she says, wide-eyed that she's even discussing such a thing. "I'll be in the living room, or in bed, and these soft lights, like little balls of light, will come floating past, and over my head, and out the door. It's kind of nice, actually, but it gives my boyfriend the creeps." The owners, when asked about the electrifying events within their home, prefer to change the subject, she says. "But there is definitely someone there," Amy adds. "And it does make staying there pretty exciting."
