Ice Ice Baby

By Felipe Buitrago

EVEN THOUGH the Sharks have started off the year with an amazing 9-4 win over the Red Wings, and yet another victory over the Blue Jackets, they're about to get kicked off the ice. And if you thought an overachieving Sharks comeback was the biggest spectacle you'd see on the rink at HP in 2007, prepare yourself for Todd Hamilton and the Smucker's Stars on Ice Tour that will be sliding into the Pavilion this Friday. Figure skating fans are in for a surprise, as this year the tour will be presenting "Double Exposure: The Many Lives of Figure Skaters." This will offer everyone the chance to get up close and personal with the lives of some of the best skaters of this generation, including 2002 Olympic Pair Champions Jamie Salé and David Pelletier; two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Ekaterina Gordeeva; and World Champion and six-time U.S. National Champion Todd Eldredge, just to name a few. The stars will appear on the ice decorated with spectacular lighting and uncanny choreography. Scott Hamilton founded the tour over 20 years ago, and since then Stars on Ice has presented over 900 shows with the soul objective of taking skating directly to the fans that want to witness what these stars do best.

Stars on Ice happens Friday, Jan. 19, at 7:30pm at the HP Pavilion. Tickets start at $25 and are available at Pavilion box office, from Ticketmaster outlets or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
