[whitespace] Fanelli Moves Into Board Seat

Los Gatos--Los Gatos Union School District Superintendent Mary Ann Park swears in new board member Andrew Fanelli during the board meeting on Dec. 9. Thomas O'Donnell and Steve Glickman, who were re-elected to their posts in November, were also installed. Although the election was not hotly contested, there was plenty of fallout in the wake of the election by a number of school district activists caught off-guard by the election of Fanelli, who owns a karate school. Some claimed he misled voters by listing his occupation on the ballot as "teacher." In spite of the controversy, which included a number of letters in the Los Gatos Weekly-Times, Fanelli's first meeting went off without a hitch. Glickman was named president, and Steve Parsons will serve as clerk of the board. To accommodate board members' schedules, meetings will now be held on the second Tuesday of the month.
