The Fourth of July is barely behind us and now you've got to get ready for...
The Reverend, The Beatles, LL Cool J, Vans Warped Tour, Fake Blue Ribbons and A Downward Spiral

Reverend Horton Heat
when: | Wednesday, July 5th, 9pm |
where: | The Blank Club, 44 S. Almaden Ave., San Jose |
phone: | 408.292.5265 |
price: | $20 |
HALLELUJAH: Reverend Horton Heat the original preacher of the sinful ways of liquor, gambling, fast cars and faster women makes his return to San Jose after a nearly six-year absence. These psychobilly boys from Texas sell-out every venue they play and we all know how small the Blank Club is so score some tickets early. The Rev sets up his proselytizing tent and begins the sermon to hell at the Blank Club July 5th. Other Reverend shows have been added around the Bay Area, so check with your local greasers for info.

where: | Plaza de Ceasr Chavez, Market and San Carlos Sts., Downtown San Jose |
phone: | 408.279.1775 |

RUBBER SOUL: We suppose that parlaying your obsession into a viable occupation is the dream of every fan, well the White Album Ensemble has done just that taking their deep-rooted Beatlemania, nascent musical talent and love splashy colored faux military uniforms to create one of the best Beatles cover bands ever. You usually see cover bands devoted solely to harder rocking outfits, but to see one covering the Beatles is nprobably your mom's dream come true. Here's a big cheers to knowing that Yoko won't show up.

Lee Rocker @ Blue Jean Bop
when: | Sunday, July 9th, noon-midnight |
where: | Saddle Rack, 42011 Boscell Rd., Fremont |
phone: | 510.979.0477 |
price: | $20 |
ROCK THIS TOWN: After the breakup of the Stray Cats, Slim Jim Phantom, Lee Rocker and Brian Setzer went their seperate ways, but didn't necessarily swing to different musical drummers. Sure, Setzer now has BSO with more band members and tour buses than any self-respecting greaser should have which, subsequently, is why Lee Rocker—the perennial badass bassist—kept things simple never straying far from his garage day greaser roots. Yeah, he may not have as big a name as Setzer, but we guarantee he'll keep his hair high, his hot rod and liver fueled and never sing Hollywood Nocturne. Lee Rocker and other rockabilly guitar slingers, thousands of hotrods, Bettie Page look alikes and assorted pin up girl wannabes (god bless 'em), barbecue and booze will converge on the Saddle Rack to warp you back to the Fifties.

The Aggrolites w/ Whiskey Avengers and Firme
when: | Friday, July 7th, 9pm |
where: | The Blank Club, 44 S. Almaden Ave., San Jose |
phone: | 408.292.5265 |
price: | $10 |
HELLCAT SKA: Carrying the reggae rock flag flown by the Clash, Operation Ivy and Rancid, the Aggrolites are a Southern California quintet immersed in rebel music. And in a serendipitous turn, the Aggrolites released their latest self-titled album on Tim Armstrong's Hellcat Records label. Break out the monkey boots and the Fred Perry gear, grab an imperial pint and skank your blues away. With Firme and Whiskey Avengers.

LL Cool J
when: | Sunday, July 9th, 9pm |
where: | The Fillmore, 1805 Geary, San Francisco |
phone: | 408.998.TIXS |
price: | $45 |
MAMA'S GONNA KNOCK YOU OUT: Back in the day before every wannabe thug on the streets with a drum beat machine thinks he's a rapper there was LL Cool J throwing down street beat rhymes, eyeballing your girl and rising to the top of the rap world. Well, this was also back in the day before every rapper thought he was also a movie star, but in LL's defense, he actually can act and his lyrics still got the punch to knock you flat on your rump.

Vans Warped Tour w/ NOFX, Joan Jett, Less Than Jake and others
when: | Saturday, July 8th, 11am |
where: | Pier 30-32, San Francisco |
phone: | 408.998.TIXS |
price: | $29.99 |
SKATE PUNKS: The venerable all day summer fest for angst ridden teenagers (and those of us not willing to grow up) returns to the San Francsco Wharf for another fun filled day of bloody elbows, 720's, studded belts, tattoos, skate boards and blow-your-amp screeching punk rock. As usual one of the best punk outfits ever, NOFX, headlines with buildup performances from Less Than Jake, Joan Jett, Rise Against, Motion City Soundtrack and Save the Day. The first 100 with a new Volcom hat and an Independant Trucks T-shirt get in for free! Just kidding, Larry.

Fame
when: | Saturday, July 8th, 9:30pm |
where: | Angels Ultra Lounge and Cabaret, 400 S. First St., San Jose |
phone: | 408.885.9588 |
price: | $10 |
WE REMEMBER: The Fame party returns to Downtown San Jose and it still has nothing to do with David Bowie, the TV show or Irene Cara, but this time around it will feature guest DJ Knuckles, voted best West Coast DJ for 2005—and with the ever-proliferating slate of spinners that we generate, that's saying something. The regular bill of turntable maestros get the party rolling, but not as well as the $2 drink specials, we imagine.

Best in Show @ Cinema San Pedro
when: | Wednesday, July 5th, dusk |
where: | San Pedro Square, Downtown San Jose |
phone: | 408.279.1776 |
price: | Free |
AND THE WINNER IS: Christopher Guest's absolutely hilarious mockumentary riff on the K9 catastrophies of the Westminster Dog Show is great no matter where you catch it. To catch it outside at the Cinema San Pedro outdoor movie series is akin to bringing home the blue ribbon yourself. Seriously the depths of perversion these peopel go to, even if it's mock perversion, makes whatever your unhealthy obsession is look like a kindergarten puppy dog love crush.

Nine Inch Nails
when: | Saturday, July 8th, 7pm |
where: | Shoreline Amphitheater, 1 Amphitheater Pkwy., Mountain View |
phone: | 408.998.TIXS |
price: | $24-$49.50 |
HEAD LIKE A HOLE: The defining '90s industrial metal band, Nine Inch Nails and their over-amped front man Trent Reznor bring unhinged and unexpected chaos to Shoreline for a black-clad ceremony of visceral noise. It's one thing to see videos of Nine Inch Nails, but seeing them live has either incited riots or sent concert goers of questionable mettle run screaming for their mommies. '80s goth band Bauhaus open up and we've got a Jackson saying they'll play Bela Lugosi's Dead.
