THE POWER OF ART: At the Jenin Freedom Theatre, Palestinian refugee children learned how to overcome hardship through art and expression. In the documentary 'Arna's Children,' co-director Juliano Mer Khamis (pictured with students) explores the founding of the theater by his mother, Jewish activist Arna Mer Khamis, and the fate of some of its students. The filmmaker will talk about his efforts to restart the school at a benefit screening on Saturday (June 21) at the Mill Gallery, 131 Front St., Santa Cruz, sponsored by the Palestine-Israel Action Committee and the Resource Center for Nonviolence; call 831.423.1626 for details.
