IMAGINE HOW MUCH Halloween candy you could score if you did 26.2 miles worth of houses. The Metro Silicon Valley Marathon this Sunday, Oct. 26, may not be stocked with Tootsie Rolls, but it will have those tasty—and a lot less sugary—26.2 miles that every marathon runner with that devilish look in their eyes desires. The organizers wanted to avoid any entanglements with vampires and werewolves, so the race will start at 7am at the corner of Park and Almaden Boulevard in downtown San Jose. The event hosts a variety of distances—there's a 5K, a half marathon, and of course, the main event. The starting point for all is the same, but the courses vary according to the distance. The finish line for the 5K and full marathon will be located at Discovery Meadow. The half marathoners will be set to finish at the Los Gatos High School track. Trick or treating isn't on the agenda, but there is no reason why you can't dress up in your favorite costume. This year's event will be themed for the occasion, particularly the 5K run, inviting young and old, living and undead alike to participate. So if you feel like getting the town folks' approval for this year's costume this would be the perfect occasion. Warning: use of flying brooms is grounds for disqualification.
