APPETITE FOR ADRENALINE: Growing kids will devour anything—especially after the Lucile Packard Hospital Children's Fun Run, one of the events in this year's Turkey Trot.

Gravy Trained

By Felipe Buitrago

SO MANY of us are looking forward to that giant feast at Thanksgiving—the turkey, stuffing, the pumpkin pie, the whole nine yards. With all that scrumptious food, you practically want to starve yourself to make sure you can pack in as much as you can. Then those turkeys become leftovers, and those leftovers become sandwiches and on and on. Fortunately there's a cure for the eternal turkey leftovers: the Applied Materials Turkey Trot, a 5K walk or run—and for more advanced runners, or those who really want to stuff themselves silly, a 10K run—on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 22. There will be plenty of events and races-within-a-race, and it benefits not only your appetite, but also local charities such as the Second Harvest Food Bank, the Housing Trust of Santa Clara County and the Santa Clara Family Health Foundation. Finally, helping others can also help you enjoy pie! For more information visit www.svlg.net.
