Wine and Women—Can't Go Wrong

By Brett Ascarelli

In honor of Women's History Month, the Seafood Brasserie hosts an interesting blend of programs that highlight the female of our species. "Sonoma Women in Wine" treats the community to informal conversations with the wine industry's mavens. A full roster of area wineries are participating, and Brasserie chef Liz Ozanich serves up small bites created specifically to match each night's wine selections.

Slated for Wednesday-Friday, from 5pm to 7pm each week of the month, the lineup includes Korbel winemakers Michelle McClendon, Erica Mandl and Lisa Russell March 15; Rodney Strong's hospitality and marketing mavens Kathy Tornabene and Michele Prinz March 16; Sapphire Hill's owner and producer Anne Giere March 17; J's marketing manager Julie Plunkett March 22; winemaker and sales admin, respectively, Melissa Bates and Lisa Peterson, for Belvedere Winery on March 23; Trecini Cellars' owner and producer Cathy Vicini March 24; owner/winemaker Jennifer Wall of J. Lynne Winery on March 29; Gundlach-Bundschu winemaker Linda Trotta March 30; and Jordan's PR director Lisbeth Holmefjord bringing it on home on March 31.

"These women are pioneers," says event coordinator Jackie Price, clearly psyched about the series as a way to show the progress that women have made in a male-dominated industry.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Breast Care Center of Sutter Medical Center of Santa Rosa. The Seafood Brasserie, located within the Vineyard Creek Hyatt, 170 Railroad St., Santa Rosa. $10 suggested donation. 707.636.7388.
